About the Africa Basketball Festival
The Africa Basketball Festival (ABF) merges the game of basketball with music and fashion. The event which assembles basketball teams from different countries to compete, showcases fashion brands and musical performances aims to promote cultural exchange and foster international unity through sports and entertainment.
After three (3) successful editions held in Ghana in 2019, 2022 and 2023 with six (6) countries at the Bukom Boxing Arena, the 2024 festival has ten (10) participating countries and promises to deliver unforgettable memories for attendees from 24-27 October, 2024 in Accra.
Our Story
The concept of Africa Basketball Festival was simply adding a sporting experience for visitors traveling to Ghana in 2019 after the introduction of the Year of Return Programme by the government of Ghana. The Year of Return was going to attract thousands of people from the diaspora to Ghana in December and as basketball promoters we saw an opportunity to organize a basketball event merged with music and fashion.

The Africa Basketball Festival (ABF) envisions becoming one of the most influential platforms for showcasing basketball talents, fostering unity, and promoting the sport as a vehicle for youth empowerment, cultural exchange, and community development. The festival seeks to inspire the next generation of athletes and elevate the global standing of the sport as well showcase fashion brands and music.
Mission of the Africa Basketball Festival
The mission of the Africa Basketball Festival is to:
- Celebrate Basketball Talents: Provide a platform for countries to showcase their basketball talents and to compete at the highest level
- Foster Youth Development: Promote basketball as a tool for youth empowerment, leadership, and
personal growth by organizing clinics, workshops, and training programs - Unify African Communities: Use basketball as a medium to bridge cultural and national divides, fostering a sense of unity and collaboration across the continent
- Promote Sportsmanship and Excellence: Encourage fair play, dedication, and the pursuit of excellence among African athletes, both on and off the court
- Create Global Recognition: Elevate the visibility and reputation of African basketball on the global stage, creating opportunities for African players, coaches, and teams to compete internationally
- Celebrate Global Culture: Integrate African and world music, fashion, and dance into the festival, offering a holistic celebration of global culture alongside sports competition.
